Bush Fried Chicken

Enjoy the bold native flavours of Bush Fried Chicken with Australian Bush Spices. This crispy, golden chicken recipe combines aromatic bush seasonings with a crunchy coating for a uniquely Australian twist on a family favourite. Perfect for entertaining or an easy weeknight meal.

Cook Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (150g) plain flour
  • 2 tsp Salt and Pepperberry
  • 1 tbs paprika
  • 1 tbs onion powder
  • 400g chicken fillets, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups (500ml) vegetable oil, for shallow frying
  • Kakadu Plum Relish to serve
  • Marinade
  • 2 cups (500ml) buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Salt and Pepperberry

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, salt and pepperberry, onion powder, and paprika in a bowl.
  2. Combine the marinade ingredients in a large bowl. Add chicken and marinate for 20 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a large heavy-based pan to 180°C.
  4. Drain chicken, then coat thoroughly in the spiced flour mixture.
  5. Fry for 5 minutes or until golden, crispy, and cooked through.
  6. Serve hot with Kakadu Plum Relish on the side.
